Uniforms and Merchandise

A new look is coming….

GSSC is currently working on an updated Club brand and a refreshed range of uniforms and merchandise for the 2026/27 season.

We’re looking forward to introducing a range that gives our swimmers and families a strong, consistent GSSC identity at training, competitions and Club activities.

HELP SHAPE GSSC’S NEW LOOK

GSSC has changed a lot in recent years, and as we head into the 2026/27 season we think it is the right time for our visual identity to evolve with the Club.

Our red and white colours are an important part of our history, reflecting the Club’s origins in Strathalbyn and the colours traditionally associated with sport in the town. That history remains an important part of who we are.

At the same time, Great Southern Swimming Club today reaches well beyond Strathalbyn. We train year-round, draw swimmers and families from across the Fleurieu coast, and represent the Club at competitions across South Australia and beyond.

As the Club has grown, so has the opportunity to develop an identity that feels distinctly GSSC.

TWO DIRECTIONS TO EXPLORE

The Committee has been exploring different ideas for what a refreshed GSSC identity could look like.

The two concepts below have been developed using AI as an early concept-design tool. They are being shared as creative directions, not finished logos.

We are not asking members to choose an image that will simply be placed onto uniforms exactly as shown.

What we want to understand at this stage is which overall direction feels most appropriate for the future of GSSC.

Once we have member feedback, we will work with a graphic designer to professionally develop the preferred direction.

OPTION 1 - WHALE TAIL & COAST

This concept features a whale tail, water and rising sun, using navy with pink and orange accents.

HAVE YOUR SAY

OPTION 2 - SWIMMER & WAVES

This concept features a swimmer, waves and rising sun, using navy and gold.

WHAT THE FINAL IDENTITY NEEDS TO DO

Whichever direction is preferred, there are some things the final GSSC identity needs to achieve.

It must:

  • clearly identify us as Great Southern Swimming Club

  • retain a meaningful connection to swimming and our region

  • work for the whole Club, from junior swimmers through to senior and performance athletes

  • be distinctive and recognisable on pool deck and at competitions

  • work across uniforms, caps, merchandise, signage and digital use

  • reproduce properly in embroidery, print and one-colour applications

  • feel appropriate for a community sporting club

  • be strong enough to serve GSSC for years rather than follow a short-term trend.

The final logo, colours, typography and individual design details may therefore change during the professional design process.

WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW FROM YOU

We want to know what you like, what you don’t like, and anything you think we should keep in mind as the design is developed.

In particular, we’d like your feedback on:

  • which overall direction feels most like GSSC

  • the imagery and symbolism

  • the colour direction

  • how well each concept reflects the Club and our region

  • anything you would change, retain or avoid.

This is not a formal vote on a finished logo. Member feedback will help the Committee select a preferred direction, alongside practical considerations such as uniform design, reproduction, cost and professional design advice.
