MEMBERSHIP & FEES
Swimming with GSSC involves a few different components. Depending on the swimmer, costs may include Club membership, training fees, pool access and competition entries.
We’ve separated these below so families can see what each cost covers.
GSSC MEMBERSHIP
All swimmers training and competing with GSSC must hold the appropriate membership through Swim Central.
Membership registers swimmers with GSSC, Swimming SA and Swimming Australia and provides the membership and insurance framework required to participate in Club activities and sanctioned competition.
For swimmers under 18, Swimming SA also requires at least one parent or guardian to hold a Parent/Non-Swimmer membership.
WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP COST?
Membership fees vary depending on the swimmer’s age and membership type and are set annually through Swim Central. As a general guide:
Swimmer membership: approximately $120–$200 per year, depending on age and membership type
Parent/guardian membership: approximately $30 per year
Come’n’Try membership: free for 30 days for eligible new swimmers.
These figures are indicative only. Current fees and the membership products available through GSSC are shown in Swim Central when you register.
CLUB TRAINING FEES
GSSC training fees contribute to the cost of providing the Club’s coached training program.
WHAT DO TRAINING FEES COVER?
Training fees support:
coach accreditation, professional development and ongoing training
lane hire
training equipment and resources used across the program
administration, systems and other incidental costs associated with running the training program
The Club aims to keep training fees affordable while providing a sustainable program and continuing to invest in coaching quality and swimmer development.
For the 2025–26 season, GSSC training fees were $360 per swimmer for the year. Families could choose a payment arrangement that suited them, including monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually.
Sports Vouchers can be used towards GSSC training fees for eligible children.
POOL ENTRY
GSSC’s primary year-round training venue is the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre.
Swimmers are responsible for their own entry to the facility when attending training. Pool access is not included in GSSC membership or Club training fees.
Families can choose the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre entry or membership option that best suits how often their swimmer uses the facility.
For swimmers training several times each week, a facility membership may provide better value than individual casual entries.
GSSC also uses the Strathalbyn Swimming Pool for seasonal training and Club activities. Entry arrangements may differ depending on the session or activity and will be communicated to members when relevant.
Pool entry and facility membership prices are set by the facility operator and may change independently of GSSC fees.
COMPETITION COSTS
Competition entry fees are separate from GSSC membership and training fees.
Individual meet entries are generally selected and paid through Swim Central, with the cost varying depending on the competition and the number of events entered.
There is no fixed competition cost for the year. Swimmers compete at different levels and frequencies depending on their stage of development, experience and goals.
Our coaches will help swimmers and families identify appropriate meets and events, particularly when they are new to competition.
As swimmers progress to Country, State or National competition, families may also need to consider travel and accommodation costs.
OTHER COSTS TO CONSIDER
Swimming does require some personal equipment, but families do not need to purchase everything at once.
For regular GSSC training, swimmers will generally need:
bathers
goggles
swimming cap
fins
kickboard
pull buoy
Swimmers representing GSSC at competition may also require Club uniform or apparel. Information about current uniform requirements and ordering is available through the Club.
