Choose competitions that suit you
GSSC swimmers can participate in any competition for which they are eligible. The Club calendar identifies a range of opportunities across the season, but swimmers are not limited to the meets identified as GSSC targets.
Coaches can help swimmers and families choose competitions and events that support their development, training and goals.
Representing GSSC
Whenever a swimmer competes as a registered GSSC member, they are representing the Club — whether or not a GSSC coach is attending and whether or not the competition has been identified as a targeted meet.
The same expectations of respect, sportsmanship and appropriate behaviour therefore apply at every competition.
Swimmers and families are expected to:
behave respectfully towards teammates, coaches, officials, volunteers and other competitors
support a positive GSSC team environment
comply with the GSSC Code of Conduct and By-Laws
respect the role of accredited coaches and officials
represent the Club appropriately on and around pool deck.

When a meet is targeted by GSSC
Some competitions are identified as targeted or team meets because the Club intends to attend in a more coordinated way.
At these meets, additional arrangements may include:
designated team seating
coordinated warm-up arrangements
directions from appointed coaches and Team Managers
relay selections
coach check-ins before and after racing
timekeeping and other volunteer allocations
other reasonable team arrangements communicated by the Club.
These arrangements sit in addition to, rather than instead of, the standards that apply whenever a swimmer represents GSSC.
