TRAINING TIMES
FIND A SESSION THAT FITS
GSSC offers coached training throughout the week for swimmers at different stages of development.
The levels shown below are a guide rather than fixed squads. Junior, Development, State and National describe broad stages of swimmer development, and coaches will confirm the sessions, training duration and frequency that best suit each swimmer.

WHICH SESSION SHOULD I ATTEND?
JUNIOR & DEVELOPMENT
These sessions are generally for swimmers building strong technique, training skills, fitness and competition experience.
Training duration and content are adapted to the swimmer’s stage of development.
STATE & NATIONAL
These sessions generally support swimmers with greater training capacity and more advanced competition goals.
As swimmers develop, training may become longer, more frequent and more demanding, with increasing focus on race preparation, performance and swimmer independence.
MORNING TRAINING
Morning sessions are available across the program and can help swimmers gradually build training frequency and confidence with early-morning training.
For Development swimmers, this may mean adding an occasional morning session, such as once a week, as they become ready for a little more training. State and National swimmers may use morning sessions more regularly as part of their overall program.
Coaches will guide swimmers on when morning training is appropriate and how often to attend.
NATIONAL TRAINING
Wednesday and Friday morning sessions provide additional training opportunities for swimmers training at National level.
Attendance is by arrangement with the coaching team.
ALL-IN TRAINING
Thursday afternoon is an all-in Club session, bringing swimmers from across GSSC’s development levels together in the same training environment.
Swimmers may complete different sets, distances or training volumes depending on their stage, but the session provides a valuable opportunity to train alongside the wider Club, build team connection and learn from others.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?
The appropriate number of sessions depends on the swimmer’s stage of development, training capacity, goals and other commitments. Junior swimmers will generally train less frequently, with consistency and training demands increasing progressively as swimmers develop.
Progress isn’t about simply doing more. It’s about training that matches the swimmer’s development and goals.
TRAINING TIMES CAN CHANGE
The regular program may occasionally change because of competitions, school holidays, facility availability or other circumstances.
Members are advised of temporary changes through the Club’s usual communication channels.
